Hotsos Symposium Speaker – Christian Antognini
Mr. Antognini is a prior Hotsos Symposium presenter.
Biography
Since 1995, Christian Antognini has been focusing on understanding how the Oracle database engine works. His main interests range from logical and physical database design, the integration of databases with Java applications, to the query optimizer and basically everything else related to performance management and tuning. He is currently working as a principal consultant and trainer at Trivadis AG (http://www.trivadis.com) in Zürich, Switzerland. If he is not helping one of his customers to get the most out of Oracle, he is somewhere lecturing on optimization or new Oracle database features for developers. He is member of the Trivadis Performance Team and of the OakTable Network.
In addition to classes and seminars organized by Trivadis, Christian regularly presents at conferences and user-group meetings. For example, during 2007 he presented at Hotsos Symposium (USA), UKOUG Conference (UK) and SIOUG Conference (SI).

- Default preferences for DBMS_STATS
- Incremental statistics collection for partitioned objects
- Pending statistics
- Comparison of statistics
- Plan stability
- Full outer join
- Partition pruning
- Bind variable peeking
For each of them, the problem in 10gR2 and the solution in 11gR1 are described.
