Abstract

Session 1: Diving into ASH and AWR: AWR and ASH are the cornerstone of performance data in the database and used heavily in the new Enteprise Manager 12c. Knowing how to read these reports, when to use the reports and how to step through the reports can be daunting for those new to this valuable performance collection feature in Oracle.

This deep-dive session takes the DBA and developer through these reports step by step. This presentation covers why you would use one over the other, how to step into the report and when you would use supporting tools/scripts to gather additional data to support the AWR/ASH findings.

The attendee will learn how to run the reports from the command line and from Enterprise manager. Clear instruction in how to read the reports and then demonstrations on how to collect supporting data from both the EM12c, (Enterprise Manager) and from scripts to supplement detailed data to back up findings and provide reporting to resolve challenges and answer questions.

Session 2: Mastering the Enterprise Manager 12c Environment: As many DBAs adopt Enterprise Manager 12c, they become aware that the product is more of a self service product than "plug-n-play". This session will cover the basics through advanced configuration of a six part series on Enterprise Manager 12c, along with many aspects from Apress' Expert Enterprise Manager 12c the presenter was co-author on. Special emphasis will be shown for the following topics: Effective monitoring setup, Performance monitoring and tuning with EM12c, The future of EM12c, ASH Analytics and Enhanced ADDM, and - The EMCLI, (Enterprise Manager Command Line Interface).
