Paul is the author of two books — though their subjects are far away from database administration.

Presentation Title

Oracle 12c Histograms — Finally User Friendly

Abstract

When Paul speaks to customers, there are almost no neutral people as far as histograms are concerned. Some say "never use them", and others say "use them". They have helped a lot. Until 10g, there were some situations when histograms were not sufficient or worse, they were preventing the optimal choice of execution plans. Things have changed to some extent with version 11. With the advent of Oracle12c, we have new types of histograms. In his presentation, he would like to show what the difference is, and if they change the rules of the game.
