Biography

Margaret NormanMargaret Norman is the Lead Database Administrator at Duke Energy and a frequent presenter at regional conferences. Since 1996, Margaret has used Oracle to develop implement and maintain transactional processing systems for large numbers of concurrent users, operational data stores, data warehouses and mixed use databases. Recent focus areas include database and application performance tuning, scalability, and securing credit card and personal identifiable information to meet PCI and SOX audit requirements.

Abstract

The multitenant database introduced in Oracle 12c is a paradigm shift for enterprise database architecture, facilitating near effortless database consolidation without many of the traditional security and stability risks to get maximum benefit of hardware resources. This presentation's demonstration will include creating a container database, creating a pluggable database, cloning a pluggable database, unplugging and plugging the pluggable database into a second container database while showing stable client connectivity.
