Stephan Haisley is a returning Hotsos Symposium presenter.
Biography
Stephan Haisley originally joined the UK Oracle Worldwide Support group in 1996 and has since worked in various technical support groups within Oracle. Currently he is a member of the Center Of Expertise, which is a small group within Oracle's Support Services that specializes in complex problem resolution and internals of the database kernel. When not teaching database internals classes or fixing customer issues, Stephan spends much of his time trying to figure out why Oracle works the way it does and then documenting it in a more readable manner.
Stephan has spoken at many Oracle conferences including RMOUG, UKOUG, IOUG-A, UTOUG, and previous Hotsos Symposia.
Presentation Title
Oracle GoldenGate Performance
Abstract
With the introduction of GoldenGate v11, there are a number of significant product enhancements and improvements, especially within the area of performance. This presentation will explain some of these new additions along with comparison test results to show the change in performance (where applicable). New features presented will include:
- New log read API for reading Oracle logfiles on ASM
- Bounded Recovery time for restarting Extract
- Enhanced LOB support
- Direct-Load INSERT support
- Some enhancements coming in future releases
Stephan will also be discussing some best practices when using GoldenGate as a database migration tool to an Oracle Exadata Database Machine environment along with configuration suggestions that will help when replicating larger volumes of data.
