Biography

Dan NorrisDan spent many years as a consultant on clustering, high availability, and system architecture before joining Oracle. At Oracle, Dan works in the development organization where he focuses on ensuring successful customers using the Oracle Exadata and Oracle Database Machine products. The enabling technologies in the Oracle Database Machine like RAC, Exadata, Infiniband, and Linux are all current and past focus areas of Dan's testing and research.

Upon joining Oracle, Dan became an Oracle Employee Ace.

Consolidation Strategies for Oracle Database Machine

Abstract

The Oracle Database Machine V2 offers customers the opportunity to run combinations of consolidated workloads for both data warehousing (DW) and online transaction processing (OLTP) while maintaining superior performance. There are many considerations when consolidating, and in this session, we will review the most important considerations and provide practical best practices to follow. We will emphasize the technical points including both strategy-level suggestions as well as "how to" recommendations to employ Oracle Database and Oracle Exadata features to reduce the risks encountered with large-scale consolidation efforts.
