Mark Bobak is a returning Hotsos Symposium presenter.
Biography
Mark has been working with Oracle for approximately 15 years. He began his Oracle career as a developer doing SQL, PL/SQL , C and Pro*C programming. For the last 10 years, he has been working as a DBA, as part of a team providing database creation, backup and recovery, security and performance tuning skills for approximately 120 Oracle databases across the ProQuest enterprise.
Presentation Title
A Closer Look at Parsing: Possible Application Optimizations
Abstract
This presentation will take a closer look at the parsing process, the differences between differing degrees of parsing, i.e. soft, hard, cursor cache hit, etc. Further, the effects of setting various Oracle parameters such as cursor_sharing, cursor_space_for_time, and session_cached_cursors will be examined.
