Presentation Title
Deploying Database Changes: Performance Matters
Abstract
Actually deploying the code/object changes related to the resolution of a performance problem in a production environment is an often overlooked, and painful, step. The deployment delay can be significant especially in complex mission-critical databases due to cumbersome and inefficient deployment procedures.
By using a few readily-available tools such as SQL*Plus and subversion, you can simplify and mitigate the risks and perils associated with production database deployments.
This presentation introduces a database deployment process, providing hands-on examples that allow you to:
- Facilitate rapid, efficient, reliable and targeted deployments
- Ensure repeatable deployments to all of the database environments (Dev > QA > Prod)
- Log all deployment steps for reporting and analysis.
- Use a standard rollback process to rapidly undo changes
