Course Id Key
University-Style Id System
Hotsos uses a university-style id system for its courses. Each course id consists of two parts: a two-letter subject designator, and a three-digit level designator.

Subject Designator
A subject designator denotes one of the following performance management subject areas:
- PD
Performance problem diagnosis and repair, including detection and operational measurement of performance problems as well as how to respond efficiently to such problems.
- OP
Application optimization, including design and implementation aspects of SQL, schema construction, and application logic.
- CP
Capacity planning, including operational measurements of capacity and workload as well as techniques for modeling future behavior.
- RM
Resource management, including scheduling, system tuning, service level agreements, and other concepts relating to optimization of existing system resources.
Level Designator
A level designator has the familiar meaning:
Smaller numbers indicate more introductory courses.
Larger numbers indicate more advanced courses.
A student should attend a 102-level course only after completing the 101-level course from the same subject area.
Note that “introductory” and “advanced” are relative terms. Because Hotsos courses are based on groundbreaking research, practitioners with even ten or more years of Oracle experience give top ratings to our courses with “introductory” labels. Read course prerequisites carefully.
